Feedback

Here's what some people are saying about the Family Fitness Event:

I just want to let you all know how much our family appreciates the great event you put on this past Sunday!  This was my 4 yr old's first official race, and we all had a great time.  It was very well organized, the course was marked well and the cheering team along the route was great!  Especially getting to hear his name over the PA as we approached the finish line.  And he is wearing his medal every day showing people. He told me "mommy I am so proud of myself!" This has been a very encouraging event for him to stay active and healthy.

But really, you all did an amazing job from the snacks, to the raffle, to the promotional booths, to the official timing and posting the pictures.  What a great group of volunteers.  I realize there are many ways to fundraise, some probably much less time consuming than organizing a race, but we appreciate you all encouraging health and fitness in the community.  We hope to join you again next year!

Sincerely,

Robin L.

Thanks so much for putting this on.  My family and I had a great time at this event.  We look forward to it again next year!
Jen D.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to get out and run as a family.  My husband and I ran along with our four children, 9 ,5, 3, and 2 months old.  It was such a positive experience for the whole family to be active and spend time together, I wish there were more events like this one.  Thank you for all that you did to put the race together.  It was a very well run event!
Emily S.

I had a GREAT TIME!~   See you next year!
Nancy R.

I just wanted to relay to you that two individuals running the event were from my husband's school in Chandler--both have run in a variety of 5K races.  They said this was a very well-managed event--they enjoyed it.

Thanks,
Jodi P.

Thank you so much!  It was a great event and we look forward to next year!
Paula M.

Thank you. You and the committee do a fabulous job with this event and it is really a great activity.  We’re graduating from Pueblo this year and are hoping to continue to get email invites/notifications.

I really appreciate all of the effort that goes in to this event and that it is such a positive, healthy activity.

Thanks again for all that you and the team did to make it successful!

Here are detailed instructions for
Race Day - Sunday, January 26, 2014

Registration
If you haven't registered yet, you can still do so. Thursday, January 23rd is the last day we are accepting registrations.  We won't have registration on race day.  There are 3 ways to register through Thursday:
1. Complete our mail-in form (see above right icon) and bring it to Paloma or Pueblo by Thursday morning. It is too late to mail it now - it won't be received in time.
.   2. Register online at Active.com (see above left icon)
.   3. Register in person at our packet pickup – Saturday, January 25th from 3 pm – 5 pm at Sole Sports Running Zone in Tempe (NE Corner of Rural and Warner).

Packet Pickup You have two options for picking up your packet.
     1.  Saturday, January 25th.  Join us at Sole Sports Running Zone - 1006 E. Warner Road #104, Tempe 85284.  Phone # 480-522-2475.  We will be on site from 3 pm to 5 pm to register new people and distribute your goodies, which includes a goodie bag, t-shirt, and race # (bib).  This is a great opportunity to beat the crowds and lines that you might experience on race day.
     2.  We will have the 5k packet pickup on Sunday from 8 am to 8:45 am.  We will start the race on time so please arrive before 8:45 to make sure you have enough time to get your packet before the race starts.  Packet pickup for the 1.3 mile is from 8 am until 10 am.  If you are doing the 1.3 mile only, you do not have to come at 8 to get your packet but be sure to arrive before 10 so you can enter our raffle prize drawing (see below for more details on the raffle).

    Chip Timing
4 Peaks Racing will be doing our chip timing this year with disposable chips.  The chip is already attached to your race bib.  Results will be displayed on a computer screen after you cross the finish line.

     Race Morning
Please be sure to arrive during the designated packet pickup times so you are ready to go with your bib and timing chip when the race starts.  The 5k starts at 9:15 am.  The 1.3 mile starts at 10:30 am.

     Race Location/Parking
The race is being held on the joint campus of Kyrene del Pueblo Middle School and Kyrene de la Paloma Elementary.  The main crossroads are Chandler Boulevard and Rural Road.  You can use this address to Mapquest it: 360 S. Twelve Oaks Blvd, Chandler 85226.  There is plenty of parking in the large parking lot between Paloma Elementary and Pueblo Middle Schools.  The large parking lot is located off of Whitten Street.

 5K Start Line
This year we will group our participants in order of estimated finish time. If you are expecting to finish in less than 20 minutes, you will be at the front.  If you are walking or pushing a baby jogger, you will be at the back.  This will allow our competitive runners to have their best time and allow our walkers to be able to walk without feeling pressured.  Please note, the fastest runners will pass walkers on the sidewalk behind the school.  Walkers, please stay to the right of the sidewalk behind the school.

    Raffle Prize Instructions
We have many prizes in our raffle drawing this year.  The bottom of your bib is your raffle entry.  Each raffle prize type will have a separate container. You will place your raffle entry into the container for the item of your choice.  Some items will have multiple winners - the container label will clearly state how many winners will be selected for that item.  The winners will be drawn at 10 am. Please be sure you have your entry in by 10 am.  There will be a master raffle prize listing displaying the bib # of the winner.  You must present your bib to collect your prize and all prizes must be claimed at the event.

    Age Group Awards
Our awards ceremony will be at 11 am, following the 1.3 mile race.  Every year we have awards to issue but the winner has already left.  We will have freebies to toss into the crowd so please stay for the ceremony. And please be sure to check the computer posting before you leave to see if you are in the top 3 for your age group.

    Weather
The forecast looks great for race day.  It will certainly be much warmer than last year!  Those who ran last year will remember we started the morning with a temperature of 26 degrees. It will be beautiful this year.

Thank you for being a part of our 6th annual event. We're excited you'll be joining us and are proud of all that we have to offer.  Some of our sponsors will be on site with some fun games so please be sure to visit their booths.  Plus we will be sponsoring our own Plinko game booth.  This is all included in your registration fee.
